Kangaroo leather leashes are lightweight, strong, and attractive, ideal for showing off your dog.
We offer a line of custom-length four-strand hand-braided Kangaroo Leather show leads and collars in black, brown, 'whisky' (reddish brown), and 'natural' (reddish-beige). White is now available as well, although it may stain according to the conditioner the customer uses. Individual strands are 1/8th-inch in width, resulting in a round cross-section that is approximately 3/16ths-inch in diameter (thicker where strands are interwoven for loops and handles).
We recommend having a core of nylon cording braided into our leather products if they are being purchased for any but the smallest breeds of dogs. This core (#15 mason's line) will add significant strength and reduce the stretching that occurs over time in all braided items, and is critical for leashes and collars on dogs that weigh more than about 20 pounds (10 kilos), especially if they might pull or lunge. The core makes the leashes and collars a bit larger in diameter and initially stiffer than non- cored items, but usage and conditioning will soften them and significantly increase flexibility."
Collars are usually stocked in 14", 16", 18" and 22", but we often have some intermediate sizes and custom lengths can be ordered. Collars should be able to pass over the widest part of the dog's head with at least an inch to spare.
Leashes may have either a flat handle or a round one that is the same diameter as the leash.
Decorative knots in flat handle leashes are optional, but are recommended because they lock the ends of the extra strand better (a 5th strand is added in the flat handle).
We also have a selection of optional decorative beads that can be placed in various locations on the leash, according to the customer's specifications. Small knots may be necessary to hold these in place.
A cored leash can have a nicer-looking flat handle if the extra-cost optional 'double-weave' handle is chosen, where additional strands are added to enclose the core so it is no longer visible. These strands also add strength to it.
Leash ends can be a small loop (suitable for attaching a choke chain), a metal ring to make the leash into a slip lead, or a small spring clip, according to the customer's preference. Two sizes of clips are immediately available, but both are fairly small and would be the weak point in a lead for a larger dog. Leash lengths vary, but the most common ones are 60", 48", 36", 31", and 24", with custom lengths up to 72" available by special order.

You may have to wait longer for custom colour mixes as they have to be braided to order.
Colours may not exactly match those on your screen. Some options cost extra, since they involve more labour and materials.
Leashes longer than 60 inches / 150 cm are subject to a labour surcharge, and collars and leashes are subject to a minimum charge no matter how short they are.
